The Bible has a lot to say about trouble.
Jesus started all this when he said to his followers: I have told you these things so that in me you may have perfect peace. In this world you will have trouble/tribulation/trails/distress/frustration - but be of good cheer. For I have overcome the world!
Notice the choice of words: "will have". This is a strong statement and it seems as if there is no escape. A definite assurance that you will not go through this world without trouble.
Why do we then have this unconscious yearning (almost like an illusion) to go through life without anything going wrong?
Paul says: be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation...be constant in prayer.
Peter have the same in mind when he says: count it all joy when you encounter trails or fall into temptation.
Now this is the last thing you would want to do: Be happy about trouble. But lets think about it for a moment.
What can we do not to fall apart and be all negative about trouble?
1. It would do us good to remember that Jesus had lots of trails (oops...and the
servant are not greater than the master)
2. We can think on God's promise in Romans: That He will use everything for our
good!
3. Pause for a moment and consider that the sufferings of this present life are not
worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us.
4. Nothing can separate us from God's love.
5. Take one step at a time and know you will get through this.
To be a God follower is not always easy, but its always worth it. At the coming of our Lord, you will surely get the promised crown!
What else will you do to survive trouble?
