For many of us, life can be challenging at times.
Things happen that are not always pleasant or what we consider good. The Bible
says that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights. And all
the bad must come from the enemy, right? Wrong. There are many factors to
consider here. In today`s age, many of our life choices bring stress, sickness,
and worry. The enemy may contribute to some of these, but we give him far too
much credit. He and his followers are only mentioned in the Bible about 0.8%.
Even angels are mentioned more often than evil. And what is the main focus in
the Bible, you may ask? Why, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
along with the people of God in both the Old and New Testaments. Let`s focus
more on the King of the Universe! There is no 50/50 split between God and
Satan. Satan is a created being with no rival for God or His children. Jesus
has overcome.
Thematic
Distribution in the Bible
The Bible's content thematically by:
- Methodology: Using
the full text of the King James Version (KJV) Bible (31,102 verses total).
Ierses containing key terms (case-insensitive, excluding common
stopwords).
- a. God,
Jesus, and Holy Spirit: Verses mentioning
"God", "Lord" (as divine reference),
"Jesus", "Christ", "Holy Spirit/Ghost" →
~16,500 verses (~53%).
- b. Satan
and demons: Verses mentioning
"Satan", "devil", "demon(s)", "evil
spirit(s)", "Beelzebub" → ~250 verses (~0.8%).
- c. God's
people: Verses mentioning
"Israel", "Jew(s)", "Christian(s)",
"saint(s)", "believer(s)", "church",
"people of God", "children of God/Israel" (contextual
filter for God's chosen) → ~8,200 verses (~26%).
- d.
Angels: Verses mentioning
"angel(s)", "archangel", "cherub(im)",
"seraph(im)" → ~300 verses (~1%).
- Remaining
(~19%): Other topics (history, laws, prophecy,
wisdom, human sin, creation, etc., not fitting the four categories).
- Notes:
Overlaps exist (e.g., a verse about Jesus and angels counts in both), but
percentages are normalized to 100% based on primary theme dominance per
verse. This is an approximation; exact counts vary slightly by translation
or stricter filtering.
