We are so used to the world economy. The ups and downs thereof and the influence it has on our pockets.
It is interesting to know that the origin of the word economy (this is from the Greek) means household management. My common sense and daily experience tell me to manage a household; everybody must abide by certain rules.
We as followers of Jesus need to obey the authorities but as ambassadors of a Heavenly Kingdom we live by a different economy.
- The world says don’t give something for free. Jesus says: freely you received, freely you must give.
- The world says I have the right to certain things. We learn from David that nothing is ours, but everything belongs to God.
- The world says this is my money and stuff; I have worked for it! The Proverbs teach us that God gives us the strength to acquire wealth. How is that for a different economy?
