the prophet

A prophet out of Judah announces to the evil king of Israel the eventual overthrow of the idolatrous worship- this word was confirmed by a miraculous sign.
God commanded this prophet not to stop and eat anywhere on his way home. When the King invited him for dinner he declined. Later on he allows himself to be enticed by an old prophet out of Bethel to go into his house (this old prophet claimed that an angel instructed him), and while sitting at table with him has to hear from this old prophets mouth the divine threat, that because he was disobedient to God’s word to him, he will not be buried with his fathers.
There can be many things said from this passage.

But I took three things from it:

·         Do not listen to the king.
·         Do not listen to the prophet.
·         Do listen to what God has said to you.

If the words of anybody else, (no matter who they are) do not agree with what you feel in your heart – what God has said to you – do not change your mind.

Stick with what God has said to you.

1 Kings 13
