Have you ever asked people who are their favourite bible character? In all my life I have never heard someone say Job is my favourite bible character.
It’s not difficult to figure out why. Job had lost everything...his children, his possessions, his health. Who in their right mind would pick Job as their favourite? Even though we don’t want to pick Job as our favourite, many times we can identify with him. We find comfort in the fact that in all that he went through – God did not left him, and restored him in the end.
If we go through difficult times we must choose to serve God for who He is and not for what He can give to us or do for us. We can know difficulty is not always because of us – Job was righteous and served God, when his life was ruined. Through all his drama and heartache Job refuses to give up on God. And God came and remind Job that He, God is sovereign and need to answer to no one – then Job bowed before God and worships Him.
The question is not why are there suffering in the world – the question is will I serve God in spite of suffering?
What do you do when going through a difficult time?
